More specifically, winter skirts (the thick, woolly kind) and patterned tights (the more holes and odder colours, the better). As the temperature continues to growingly resemble that of Antarctica (okay, I admit it's not that cold but it may as well be!), I have found a new penchant for these not-so-practical but oh-so-adorable apparels. How have winter skirts and patterned tights flown under my radar for this long?
Oh, I can actually answer that question for you. I've always been the type of girl to choose comfort over fashion. To be honest, I still am. But this weekend - which I might add is a three-day weekend as weekends ought to be - I had a spontaneous urge to drive over to my local Vinnies and buy a winter skirt. You just know that Vinnies stores everywhere will have aisles full of dowdy, granny-style winter skirts. But one man's trash is another man's treasure - and just as I thought, after 10 mins of browsing the narrow aisles of Vinnies, I found The Perfect Skirt. Well, The Perfect Skirt and its twin sister Another Perfect Skirt. These skirts were a tad too long for me but the waistlines were spot on, and for $7 each why would you even think twice?
After a couple hours of sewing - thanks goes out to my auntie who was over last night and helped me with this quite a lot - here are the final results. Not too bad, eh? :)
After finding The Perfect Skirt(s), I rushed over to Big W to find some deep burgundy tights but nothing seemed to quite fit the bill, so I had to settle for two pairs of patterned black tights. I accidentally ripped a pair this morning as I was trying to put it on (grr!) but you can catch a glimpse of what the second pair of stockings look like below. I felt a little awkward just taking a photo of my legs or a full body shot, so decided on something just as awkward in between.

As for the rest of my weekend, here's a quick snapshot. Isn't my little brother just the cutest in his green and black checkered flannel? Also, a cheap BigW special :)
