Yes, I'm still here

So, I have come to the conclusion that I am not very good at this blogging thing. At all. As much as I try to be one of those uber cool people recording all of the fascinating things they get up to each day, I'm not. (I'd even settle for being an average person recording the sometimes fascinating, sometimes average things I get up to every other week). But whatever, what I have going on is fine with me.

So, where to start since my hiatus? One word: weddings. Not mine, mind you. (I suspect Will felt a shiver in his spine right about now) Weddings, as in the amazing wedding of my cousin Alnice and Kam that just occurred. And the wedding that will occur for one of my closest friends Mae and Ryan. After many months of speculating what her wedding will look like - will she go for the rustic country or vintage look, will she have a big bridal party or small - just 5 mere days ago, Ryan proposed to Mae. And guess who's been asked to be a bridesmaid again? Me! And I couldn't be more honoured. I'm so excited for my friend because life has thrown her some pretty rotten things in the past and she deserves the absolute best.

Incidentally, I do have a few other things to share from my adventures in the Big Apple to how my bunny (yes I got one, well two) almost became a cannibal. But that is for another time, folks. Hopefully not too long.

I want

...but alas, don't need this cute, fluffy thing.

TGIF - vol. 2

Between work and church "work", this week has been absolutely Manic. Thank God it is Friday, indeed.

Here are my highlights and lessons learned:

+ I devoured two books this week. I tell ya, when I get my hands on a good book, I become a total recluse! The casualties of my book-war this time were The Hunger Games I and II. I had heard a few people describe this book a few times but never thought it was my type of book, boy was I wrong.

+ I need to sleep much, much earlier on school nights otherwise I am a total zombie the next day. This is nothing new of course but for some reason I can never get into the habit of sleeping early! Although my first point might have something to do with that...

+ Never take anyone for granted. Oh don't worry, nothing dramatic happened to me this week but something did happen to a friend that reminded me never become so familiar with someone that you don't respect them anymore.

+ Your closest friends aren't always going to know where you're coming from - no matter how close you think you are. Ok, I admit, this one did happen to me. I think this goes hand in hand with making sure you don't ever take people for granted.

Geez... when did I become so deep, homies?

Until next time!

TGIF - vol. 1

Every Friday, I thought it would be nice to put together a little update on my week gone by. I know y'all are dying to hear it. ;)

+ I am currently obsessed with Jason Mraz' new (well new to me) song "I won't give up". I especially can't get enough of the acoustic version. I'm writing this on my iPhone at the moment so I can't link to a video but if you have a search on YouTube, it should pop up right away.

+ Gersh (baby brother, well, he is still a baby to me but he is actually 8 years old) is currently into reading his little dictionary my brother gave him and it is so cute. We even coined a new game called 'Give me a word, Mr Dictionary' where he has to find a word in the dictionary and I have to try and define it. Yes, I'm sure if you searched for 'geek' in the dictionary, our pictures will be in there.

+ Something I was reminded this week is that you can only be yourself and no one else. You should be confident in who you are because God created us and in His eyes, we are beautifully and wonderfully made. Plus, things get even worse when you try to be someone you're not. (Cue "I am woman" roar)

+ Looks like Summer has finally decided to grace us with it's presence and I am definitely looking forward to making the most of it this weekend.

+ Lastly, this double rainbow didn't happen this week but HOW AWESOME IS THIS DOUBLE RAINBOW? I only wish I could've captured it better.

Enjoy your weekend, folks!

Can you keep a secret?

Well, I suppose it's not so much a secret anymore... my cousin Ate Alnice is getting married - MARRIED! Ate Alnice is one of my closest cousins (ate in Filipino means 'bigger sister' and it's what I've been calling her since we were teeny) who made the big move to the US late last year.

She whispered the news to me a few days ago but now it is official on Facebook for all the world to see. It's going to be a very low-key wedding (which is exactly the kind I want!) and she asked me to be a bridesmaid :)

My mind is still reeling from the news!

Two years.

February 8 marked the two year anniversary for Will and I. Two years! Wow, time has just gone by all too quickly.

To mark the day, Will surprised me with a gorgeous bouquet of roses and then after work, we had a beautiful dinner at Sydney Tower. It was an amazing night and I'm getting giddy just thinking about it which is so unlike me!

Anyhoo, more anniversary celebrations to continue today...

Bookworm

Recently, I've taken to books like a moth to light. I've always loved a good read and have on many occasions chosen to stay home on a Saturday night tearing through pages to find out if Jo would end up with Laurie or if Sirius was really dead (yes, I'm a geek but I'm sure you knew that already..).

Right now, I'm reading 'At Home' and it is brilliant. It's a book full of fascinating yet completely ordinary (or what is only today ordinary) inventions and facts about domestic life. Definitely worth a read!

PS. Is it just me or does my hand look like a corpse? A corpse with nicely painted finger nails, mind you :)
